Cash For Blogging: How To Monetize Your Blog & Social Media

If you are blogging for cash, you may be wondering where it will come from?  I’ve spoken to people who have been building their Social Media connections while developing their blogs with killer content… but they still don’t know how to monetize their blog and Social Media connections.

The Product

You can’t make money unless you have a product.

Are you selling a product?  Have you developed a product?

You could be selling a product for an MLM that you represent.  Or you might develop your own product, such as an instructional ebook or a series of training videos.  This depends, of course, on what your niche is, and where your passion lies.

Another way to create cash from your blog is to affiliate other people’s products.  So, for instance, if you’ve been learning to speak Spanish from somebody’s online course or training CD’s, you could contact that source and see if they have an affiliate program.  If so, then you could become an affiliate of the Spanish course, offering it to others and reaping an affiliate commission when they purchase it.

The Leads

So let’s say you’re now an affiliate of a program that we’ll call, for the sake of illustration, “Speak Spanish Now”.

How do you sell this on your blog and on Social Media platforms?

I teach that the best and most immediate way to start cashing in on your blog is to create an Opt-In Form.  That will put prospects DIRECTLY into your sales funnel.

That means it’s time for you to SELL “Speak Spanish Now”.

“Speak Spanish Now” prospects are going to be directed to your Thank You Page (also called your Sales Page).  This is where you get to tell them all the reasons that they’ll learn Spanish better with “Speak Spanish Now”  than any other competing program.

But what if your prospect is directed to your Sales Page and does not buy “Speak Spanish Now”?

The Conversion

Finally, let’s talk about converting leads into CASH-Paying Cstomers.

The fact is, very few customers buy in to your offer the first time they are presented with it.  On average, it takes 5 exposures before your lead is converted in a cash-paying customer.  But how are you going to get the chance to present your “Speak Spanish Now”  offer 5 times? Or 10 times or 20 times?

The majority of your cash-flow will come through your Auto-Responder series.  This is a series of emails you will develop to keep feeding your prospects the “Speak Spanish Now”  promotion, and anything related to it, forever.  That’s right. Forever.  Because even if they buy “Speak Spanish Now”, they are still your customer.  They will always be in your sales funnel and you can, and should, always offer them more related things to buy.  This is how you build your business.

Building your Auto-Responder business is critical to your success.  I’ll give you a quick review of how to in the following video.

Your Auto-Responder Campaign

In future blogs, I will discuss some of the finer details to developing a powerful and profitable Auto-Responder campaign.

Certainly, the most direct link to creating cash flow from your blog is the your Auto-Responder campaign.  And the best way to monetize your Social Media is to get people to migrate from your Social Media sites, onto your blog, where they will have the opportunity to Opt-In to your offer.

David ~ your posts always have great examples and clear steps ~ I always appreciate that! This is very timely for me, as creating my opt-in and autoresponders is top of my list right now. I’m close! :)

You are so right that it is with repetition that monetization happens ~ and I would say the main reason for that is that trust is established over time. Through the value of your autoresponders, people come to know, like and trust you, and then want to buy from you! :)

Thanks for the extra push to get it done!

    David,
Thanks for bringing clarity to one the online marketers most confusing concern. We all want to know how to make money in the online world and you have done a great job of explaining this.

I’ve had my auto responder in place for awhile now but it still could use some more updating and knowing how to better use it would be something I must work on. I look forward to that post in the future.

    Hi David,
Again, your post about the nuts and bolts of how to blog effectively is spot on. The list we build and subsequent relationship we form with the people on our list are at the core of being successful with our online business efforts.
By the way, I got a sneak preview of your what your new blog will look like from the the Empowered Blogs site and it is awesome! Can’t wait to see it live and in person! (It’s one of the featured blogs that scrolls along on the page.)
Keep these terrific lessons about success online coming! Of anyone in the Tribe, you present complex information the most clearly and precisely, in my opinion.

Don, I will certainly be putting together some practical advice on Auto-Responders. I know you’ll find it useful since you’re in the arena!

It’s really good to get in the habit of adding email blasts on a REGULAR basis to your Auto-Response campaign. You can use blasts to do spontaneous and timely things that a regular response campaign just can’t do.

Look forward to you stopping by for that.

Nancy, I think we all get caught up in the excitement of promoting our ideas and sharing our knowledge with those that share our passions.

But, yea, monetizing is essential if you’re going to be able to stay in the game and continue sharing. Hope to see you put it to some good use. I’m here for you if you get tripped up along the way!
