Are You A “Star Blogger“? 5 Reasons Why You Want To Be!

Stop with the humility, already.

You don’t just need a blog. You need to learn how to be a blogger. Actually, you need to be a STAR blogger. Maybe even a SUPER STAR blogger. You want to make money blogging, don’t you? You want to promote your great ideas, don’t you? You want to help people, help the world, entertain, enlighten, spread love and value to others… don’t you?

If you answered yes to even one of these questions, then you need to get down to business… the business of becoming a STAR blogger.

You Can Warm The Bench…

You see, it’s nice to be a blogger. It’s a nice thing to do. It passes the time away. Your family and friends are amused by it. They might leave you some cute comments. You could even add it to your resume if you want to get some freelance writing assignments.

But blogging is also an incredibly powerful communication tool. You can use it to position yourself as a leader in your field, as an artist, an educator or a philosopher.

You can also use it to make money. Sounds pretty selfish, huh? I hear lots of people say “it’s not about making money”. That’s fine if you’re financially independent or blessed with a trust fund.

Otherwise…

Try telling your kids when they’re hungry… you “got no cash today”.

Try telling your favorite charity when they beg you to help them assist people trying to recover from an earthquake… sorry, I didn’t think money was too important… so “I ain’t got none”.

And you can forget about helping your aging parents who can’t afford the dentist, your shut-in aunt who can‘t pay for air-conditioning, or the old man across the street losing his house to back taxes… just tell them you don’t place much value in money. Tell them you blog just for the “art” of it (ie., your ego).

… Or, You Can Step Up To The Plate!

But if you decide you DO want to monetize your blogging efforts, or you do want to spread your ideas, talents and unique perspectives… then here’s the 5 reasons why you want to be, not just a blogger, but a STAR blogger!   Take notes, and then take these 5 Steps that will take you from the Bench to the Batter’s Box…

Being a Star Blogger means

  • You are getting people’s attention (Action Step 1: Get People’s Attention)
  • You’re taking on a leadership role within your community or niche (Action Step 2: Be A Leader)
  • You are positioned to dominate social media circles (Action Step 3: Master Social Media)
  • You gain the trust and credibility that commands a huge audience or following (Action Step 4: Create Trust)
  • You are in a position to generate incredible profits (Action Step 5: Capture & Convert Leads)

If you are looking to accomplish these objectives as a blogger, remember that blogging BEGINS with you developing yourself into a STAR BLOGGER.  In future blogs, I’ll go into the 5 Action Steps in detail.

In the meanwhile… If you’re ready to step up to the plate and establish yourself as a STAR Blogger NOW… I’m here for you!  Let’s talk!

I’d love to hear what level of blogging you’re at now, and what things you think you need to work on to start being a STAR BLOGGER!

Great video David. While watching I had an old clip running though my mind from “on the Waterfront” “I coulda been a contender” “I coulda been somebody” Until we have that passion we will never be a “Star Blogger” You always get it right and for that I thank you.

    Hi David,
It’s wonderful to see your new blog design up and running! Looks fantastic!
As for your post, it’s right on the money (pun intended :)
I don’t understand why some people feel they need to dismiss earning money as an objective for having a blog, or working online…come on! If anyone tells me they aren’t interested in money, I know they are lying. Even very wealthy people who have enough money to run half of Europe will tell you, “Sure, I wouldn’t mind having more money!” That’s because money gives us choices, and so…if blogging is a vehicle that will help you earn more money, and in turn, give you more choices, then indeed, you need to study and practice so you can become a blogging Rock Star.
Which, by the way, you are definitely becoming! :)

Powerful video David! Solid solid teaching all the way around. I love how you talked about people often rushing to get in for #5, the money, when that is infact doing it backwards! Good stuff!

You’re right, Kimberly. It’s backwards thinking to want money and then decide how to give value to people in order to make it.

As contrary as it is to our conditioning, we MUST consider how to give of ourselves first, and then develop strategies for monetizing that passion.

I’ve been reading your blog and I know that’s how YOU do it!

    Great tips David!

It is a process to learn and an area that needs to be done continuously to build your following. Not necessarily an easy way to build a business, but with the correct insight and tools, it can be a fun way to share and interact with others.

Keeping the end goal in sight – having the time freedom to do what you want – is a key reason to utilize blogging for your business.

    Hey, love your new site!

    Awesome video! The bottom line…

The right mindset… sounds simple, but that’s really where the greatest effort needs to be made. Too many people have a comfort and compromise mindset, and it’s not easy to change that around. But it is ESSENTIAL if you want to succeed… at whatever you want to succeed at.

Thanks for pointing that out, Sharon. I can always count on you!

    David,
I’m in agreement with a lot of the other commentors, your new Blog design looks Great!

Your absolutely right on target with your approach. Why in the world would anyone start a blog and not want it to become known? Most people start a blog because they have something to say so why keep it under wraps. You’ve done a nice job of giving us the reasons why you’d want to step up and be a Super Star. I’m sure your future posts will go into more detail and I look forward to them down the road.

    Thanks!

    Hi David,

I agree that initially starting a blog can be scary for people as there is potential for their visibility to skyrocket. This takes a lot of people right out of their comfort zones.
As you mentioned though, there is no better way for people to share their value and passion than through a blog. Even when you are brand new you have value to share as no two people have had the same life experiences or learning curve.

Thanks for the great tips in your video.
