I had a sneak preview of this because I’m married to David. But I just have to say that this is an incredible series because when it comes to stuff like this, I am all ADHD. Thanks David for teaching me this.

Glad you’re picking up on this one, Donna…
I’ve had to do a little arm-twisting to warm you up to it, but I know you’ve really had a great experience with Skype since you started using it. The best part is that the learning curve is only teenie-weenie!
Hello, David. Thanks for the hint about naming your account according to your blog and your brand. Since I joined Skype years ago, I don’t know that my name is entirely where I’d like it to be now, but it has one of my brand words: Success

Yea, branding is of utmost importance everywhere you turn online, Steve.
Glad you got it right. I know some people who have thrown out all their contacts and groups and started over from scratch… just to get the branding right.
Hey David,
Great video here. I’ve been on skype for a while but don’t use it as much. I only use it to call people out of the US. It’s definitely great to hear the tips that you’ve shared in this video. Thanks a lot!
They will be put to good use on my end!
Have a great weekend!

Glad to hear you’ll be getting more out of skype, Pete.
It’s such an under-rated tool, and is so easy to get started with… and the price is certainly right! (ie., Zero).
David,
Wait! There are people who do not know how to use Skype! I thought that was a myth. Skype Rocks!

I think more than people not knowing how to use skype, it’s that skype is so simple that they often don’t explore its fully potential as a business and personal branding tool.
Hi David this is simple and thanks for this great tutorial. Would have liked to see an actual shared screen. I never thought of it as a branding tool. I do small group calls sometimes but mostly 1-1 calls.

Good suggestion, Lynda.
I’ll remember to put together a screen presentation next time I hit this topic.
Well done David. I really haven’t had a reason to use Skype up to now – I’m primarily a writer and don’t have a group of individuals out there that I’d need to keep in touch with, and while I love my readers I don’t think I’m ready to invite them into my home! That said, now that I’m actively publishing I can see where I will be able to use Skype for industry networking so this is really helpful!

Networking, masterminding… many uses for Skype in your business, Marty.
It’s really tailor-made for any coaching or mentoring that people do, or any kind of client interaction.
Great video! Skype is extremely useful. I love to use it with clients. I was introduced to Skype when it first began and thought it might be another Yahoo! IM. However, I have been able to use it and not have to worry about the teenie boppers or weirdos from other countries contacting me to cyber…lol. (for real!
)
I think the most recent, I got to talk to a client who is an ABC anchor and I think that when I do go for a smartphone, I will be putting the skype app on it.

Skype app on your smart phone is sure to come in handy. And you’re right, it is really professional and really a must for anyone looking to conference in any meaningful way with clients.
Good idea here! I think that this indeed will make my business more attractive and also will ease the communication with my clients!

Absolutely right, Anna.
You can’t go wrong here. At worst, you just won’t use it as much as you thought you might. But trust me, if you’re not using it much, your business is suffering because of it.
Great point about branding your Skype Account. Here’s my question for you… practically speaking, how much do you really talk with “random” people (by “random” I mean people not having an appointment).
I just don’t have time to sit and talk on Skype with a ton of people. I’ve always used Skype for mastermind calls and for my coaching/consulting clients- but that’s it. When you say “Connect with Me on Skype” what is your intent? To just answer anytime they call?
I’ve really struggled with how to Strategically implement Skype and would love to know your perspective on this David!

You’re right that Skype is primarily an “appointment only” tool.
However, I’ve been quite successful setting up “walk-ins welcome” times where I’ll be available to chat with those of my subscribers who have set up skype contact with me. So, for instance, I might send an email blast to my subscribers or a segmented portion of my subscribers that “tomorrow, I’ll be on Skype from 7 to 9 pm to answer your personal questions about … first come, first serve, I’ll talk to everyone I can within that time. Please keep your questions short and direct, as others will be waiting”. This gives an immediacy and availability to your subscribers that isn’t always as personal as on other platforms, like facebook for instance.
