I think more than people not knowing how to use skype, it’s that skype is so simple that they often don’t explore its fully potential as a business and personal branding tool.
Hi David this is simple and thanks for this great tutorial. Would have liked to see an actual shared screen. I never thought of it as a branding tool. I do small group calls sometimes but mostly 1-1 calls.

I really haven’t had a reason to use Skype up to now – I’m primarily a writer and don’t have a group of individuals out there that I’d need to keep in touch with, and while I love my readers I don’t think I’m ready to invite them into my home! That said, now that I’m actively publishing I can see where I will be able to use Skype for industry networking so this is really helpful!

You can’t go wrong here. At worst, you just won’t use it as much as you thought you might. But trust me, if you’re not using it much, your business is suffering because of it.
Great point about branding your Skype Account. Here’s my question for you… practically speaking, how much do you really talk with “random” people (by “random” I mean people not having an appointment).
I just don’t have time to sit and talk on Skype with a ton of people. I’ve always used Skype for mastermind calls and for my coaching/consulting clients- but that’s it. When you say “Connect with Me on Skype” what is your intent? To just answer anytime they call?
I’ve really struggled with how to Strategically implement Skype and would love to know your perspective on this David!

You’re right that Skype is primarily an “appointment only” tool.
However, I’ve been quite successful setting up “walk-ins welcome” times where I’ll be available to chat with those of my subscribers who have set up skype contact with me. So, for instance, I might send an email blast to my subscribers or a segmented portion of my subscribers that “tomorrow, I’ll be on Skype from 7 to 9 pm to answer your personal questions about … first come, first serve, I’ll talk to everyone I can within that time. Please keep your questions short and direct, as others will be waiting”. This gives an immediacy and availability to your subscribers that isn’t always as personal as on other platforms, like facebook for instance.
