“Fan Page” Flow | Get Facebook Fans Swimming In Your “Social Stream”

Fan Page FlowYou need a consistent “Fan Page” flow, in order to make your Facebook Fan Page the social center you need. Like a grand lake, your Fan Page is fed continually by a variety of social streams, filled with fans that you must learn to channel in the direction of your Fan Page.

Fan Page Basics

1. make a Fan Page; and

2. energize it with some Fan Page Buzz by infusing it with a good quantity of

highly targeted, high-quality content.

Procuring Fans and Followers

Once you have covered the basics outlined above, getting fans and instilling

loyalty in them, becomes your main task.

The best way to do that is to continue, on a consistent basis, to offer quality

content, while making sure everyone in your circle of influence is regularly made

aware of your new offers and updates.

SEO Your Facebook Fan Page

One other strategy to get folks swimming your way, is to optimize your Fan Page

with keywords. As with blogs and articles, Search Engines like Google, Bing and

Yahoo will scan your Fan Page to see if it is relevant to various search

criteria. Meanwhile, Facebook also its own search engine, too.

As with other online content, integrate keywords “on page” within key areas:

1. status updates
2. titles
3. page name
4. the info box
5. image tags
6. video tags

You can build an “off page” SEO strategy by building backlinks to your page. Be

sure to cultivate backlinks from external sources like blog posts, Twitter feeds,

YouTube, and other source locations.

As you improve you Fan Page SEO ranking, you stand a better chance to gain search

traffic, and further build the authority status of your Fan Page.

This post is the third in a series of Facebook Fan Page overviews. I urge you to

review the previous posts in the series, Make A Fan Page and Fan Page Buzz.

I love to read your questions and comments, and encourage you to share this post

within your social media streams. I’d also love to hear if what you’ve found

useful in filling your social streams and harnessing your own Fan Page Flow.

    Hi David,
Thanks for this excellent tutorial. Most of the times we forget that actually even a fan page can rank on Search engines (and some times much easier than our own site) so optimize it to rank better is a great way to get even more exposure and likes. Additionally we might forget that Bing (Microsoft) is a partner with Facebook and actually favors everything that has to do with Facebook…

You know, Kostas, I’m really glad you brought up the Facebook-Bing connection.

We often get to thinking that Goolge is IT. Well, Bing has come a long way and Facebook is a large part of that success.

So spread out and utilize both Google with G+ AND Bing with Facebook. 2 big powers, and we need them both as internet marketers.

The main thing… KEEP SOCIAL. No better place than Facebook, both pages and Fan pages. You MUST work them both. Doing only one or the other will seriously compromise your online efforts.

SEO is a big part of establishing a Fan Page, James.

Google has certainly slanted organic “searches” toward folks that are being “social” online.

A Fan Page is one of the greatest assets you can have to establish you social credibility and reap the SEO gains!

    Hello David,

I’m going to have to get down to this (creating a fan page.)
Facebook went public just now, who knows how big it will get!?:)
    Thanks for sharing these insights!

    Best

      You’re right, Akos.

The fact that Facebook went public will really stimulate even GREATER popularity world-wide. Internet marketers beware… either get on board, or you’d better start walking!

I have done a lot with my fan page, except for a decent welcome tag. I am thinking to do it this week as I think it could help a lot with directing people to where I need them to be aware of. I’ve relied a lot on my client referrals and from connecting with people who have approached me at conferences, but those who have not, and have become a fan… I’d would not be surprise that some wondered in and just hanging on the conversations and articles and thinking that is all there is…lol

I know that you’ve got a lot of great value to share, Nile.

You could have a really robust fan page just by virtue of being the leader you are, and so many people wanting to contact you directly about technical things they’re dealing with… WP issues etc.

It’s not easy to get a fan page rolling, but it’s a great way to really get people involved in what you do, and interacting with you on a regular basis.

And it’s certainly tailor made to what you’ve doing online. Good Luck with it!

Very useful tips, David! A lot of us bloggers have “static” fan pages that have no social buzz, are not optimized for SEO, are not linked to all our other stuff. Just “me too” fan pages that are more like islands that very few folks come to visit and hangout. It’s time to breathe life into these fan pages. And you may have inspired me to do just that. Thank you!

      Good luck with it, Srinivas.

It’s something you have to be really consistent with, and organic.

Every day, try to get a few real people to bring their questions and comments over to your fan page. Consistency is what brings you to the top, not massive action for a short period of time followed by a drought!

Thanks for sharing great info. here. Everyone knows how powerful Facebook is. Having a presence there is just the thing to do for every online marketer or anyone who works online. Being there is not enough though, we need to know what to do properly in order to maximize our results and build credibility.

    Thanks for sharing! :)

      You got it PJ.

It’s all about the buzz… the interaction… the REAL relationships, not just the cordial ones.

Step it up, PJ. I look forward to your great success!

    Hi David, Nathan here.

Thank you for the valuable information about Facebook fan pages. At this point I haven’t created one, but have been thinking about doing it. Your blog posts and videos cleared some things up for me that I was wary about, namely not wanting to violate Facebook Terms of Service.

Now that I’ve learned a little about it here on your blog, it looks like something I may be doing soon. I’m sort of just getting going with Facebook, though I’ve had the account for a while.

Anyway, thanks again for the quality information.

Takes minutes to set up, but can be the most effective thing you ever do to market yourself.
