How Do Bloggers Make Big Bucks?

How Bloggers Make Big Bucks

How Do Bloggers Make Big Bucks?

I guess the first thing I should point out is this.

Most bloggers don’t make big bucks.

But those who do, usually make their big bucks from creating digital products.

Here’s why.

Product Creators are Product Sellers

When you create a digital product, you can promote it on your blog.

You can also put it on affiliate sites like Clickbank, JV Zoo, Deal Guardian, Zaxaa and others.

When you do, you can attract other affiliates to promote your product.

This generates more sales.

When you build a nice team of affiliates, you don’t even have to promote your products any more.

You just keep creating them, and your affiliates will sell them for you.

More products means more sales.

Product creators are product sellers through their own efforts, and through the efforts of their affiliates.

This is one route that bloggers can travel to make big bucks.

Product Creators are List Builders

Not all bloggers will create products to sell them.

In fact, the larger number of products created by bloggers are “lead magnets.”

A lead magnet is a product that is offered for free. Readers voluntarily subscribe to your email list in order to get the free product.

Bloggers can make big bucks giving away free products they create.

The better the product, the bigger the list.

More people will join your list if you offer a good product, or a product that addresses a hot topic.

A free product called “Get Penny Clicks With Facebook Ads” will build a bigger list than one called “Have Fun Writing Interesting Articles.” That’s because Facebook ads is a hot topic right now.

Building a bigger list means you will have more chance of earning bigger bucks down the road, as you continually offer products and services to your list.

Bloggers vastly increase their revenue from list building when they create products that satisfy two key criteria.

1. The product needs to be high quality. If you put together a shoddy product just to build a list, you’ll end up with a bunch of people on your list who don’t trust your authority or ability to offer value. So they won’t respond very well to your offers.

Make your products great, even though they’re free. Over deliver great quality information in an interesting, enjoyable manner. This will raise your trust level, you will be seen as an authority in the niche, and your offers will be taken far more seriously. This will help you optimize the value of your list in terms of revenue.

2. Make sure the free product you create and offer will attract the kind of subscribers most likely to buy the products and services you promote.

This seems like an obvious thing to do, but numerous bloggers get this wrong.

It’s not uncommon to find many of them offering things only vaguely related to the products they intend to promote to their email list.

Product Creators Earn Commissions

Bloggers can make big bucks in the form of commissions.

They do this in several ways.

When they create products to build a list, they can earn good commissions as affiliate products they promote to their list.

Creating free products is not the only way to build your list, though.

Bloggers creating paid products can earn big bucks both on the “front end” of their business and on the “back end.”

So, they have a very good opportunity for high earnings.

On the front end, you can sell your digital product. That’s revenue.

When you have affiliates selling your product, your revenues increase.

But your list also increases.

Every buyer is added to your list. This grows a list, but not just a list. It grows a “buyers list.”

A buyers list is infinitely more valuable than a general subscribers list.

That’s because buyers are proven to be people who are willing and able, maybe even anxious, to buy similar products.

Bloggers who build a list resulting from sales of their products, have a far better opportunity to earn big bucks on the back end of their business, too.

The “back end” is the products they sell to their list. Most of those products will be affiliate products.

As a product creator, you get to know other product creators pretty well. It’s a pretty tight-knit community.

That opens a lot of doors for getting great affiliate deals for your list, as well as joint venture opportunities with other product creators.

Product Creation Obstacles

The bottom line is this.

Bloggers who create products stand a far better chance of earning big bucks than those who don’t.

It’s the key to building a thriving online business.

The main reason very few bloggers take their business to this level is that they don’t know how to

  1. create a digital product, and
  2. promote their product.

If you’d like to start creating digital products, but just don’t know how, I’ve got some good news.

VIP Club

Whirlwind Success VIP Club

Donna and I will be offering a full course on the entire process of creating and promoting digital products.

While this course is being offered to private members of our Whirlwind Success “VIP Club,” it will also be made available to the general public for a fee.

It will be a few months before this course is ready, but it will be a great resource for bloggers looking to break into this aspect of the business.

Launch Control Center

There was a time when I had no idea how to create or promote digital products, either.

But I did know that it would be a pivotal point in my business if I could learn it.

I was determined to make digital product creation part of my online business, so I set out to find the best folks to learn from.

After a few disappointments, I started working with a guy named John Thornhill.

This was a turning point for me.

John showed me exactly how to

  1. turn my “thoughts” into products
  2. turn my products into profits

That’s it.

Pretty simple.

And it’s not nearly as difficult to do as I thought it would be.

Today, I want to introduce you to a a great opportunity John is offering on a special promotion this week.

It’s called

Launch Control Center

John has made this an extremely affordable training.

I’m not going to give you details as to pricing because this is a very fast moving offer. The price and bonus offering are changing by the minute.

In a matter of days, the launch special for this training will end altogether.

So, if you’re reading this article after the launch period ends, I’m sorry you didn’t get here earlier.

I will send this information out to my list and via social media channels so that everyone in my circles will have a fair chance to get in on this.

John has put together a great training here.

It’s essentially the same kind of ongoing training and support that I got when I was trying to figure this all out.

PLUS, he throws in his entire product “creation” course that normally costs $297, and is worth every penny.

But during this brief launch period, it’s being included as a Bonus “throw in”.

Now, I’ve paid a lot for John’s training, and I’m a regular member of his monthly training group.

Right now…

you can get BOTH the membership access and the extensive training course for just a few bucks.

For those of you with any interest at all in creating a product, and promoting it properly, definitely check this out.

My Special Bonus

If you purchase “Launch Control Center” during this promotional launch, I’ll even give you my own special bonus…

I’ll work with you personally to promote your finished product by offering it to my personal list of subscribers, and personally introducing you to them.

I’ve got a few other things I’ll do to help you, but we’ll talk about that after you’ve completed your purchase with my affiliate link below.

My Bonus Disclaimer: (1) Your product must be high quality (if you follow John’s training that comes with your membership, it should be). (2) Your product has to be something that would add value to my lists of internet marketers and bloggers.

That determination will be solely up to me.

But keep in mind, I’m happy to promote things that my friends create, when I see they can add value to my readers and followers.

Now, here’s what you need to do…

1. Purchase Launch Control Center from my link below.

2. Send me your receipt when you do.

3. Then we’ll set up a 15 minute phone or Skype consultation to discuss the best strategy for you to put this into action in your business.

Here’s my affiliate link:

I’m glad I was able to bring this offer to the table for my readers.

I’m sorry that John’s special launch deal will be available for only a few days.

I hope you get the opportunity to get in on this.

Whirlwind Success VIP Club

Of course, as good as it is, it’s not for everyone.

You may have no interest in creating your own product.

In fact, I’d be interested in hearing if you have created your own product, yet.

If not, do you plan to, or want to?

Do you know how to?

Or do you prefer to stay out of the product creation aspect of blogging and online marketing?

I appreciate, and look forward to your  comments and your social shares.

    Hey David,

Thus sounds like a really good deal. I’m sure there would be a lot of people interested in this. The one thing that would hold me back would be the time to put in the training and product creation. But creating my own product is something going I plan on doing I the near future.

Thanks for sharing David! Have a good one!

Glad to have you here today, Sherman.

I know the time fear is a big one for people when they think of creating a digital product. It’s something, though, that I think sounds a lot scarier when you don’t do it, then when you do.

I think my first product took me 6 months to complete, the second one took 2 weeks, and now I can literally create a product in a day.

Don’t be frightened by the word “product.” That can mean 7 hours of video trainings like Donna did for Blogging Magic, or it can mean what we call in the blogging world, a “pillar post” (a long blog post) with a couple 5 minute demo videos like we did for a product we’re launching in the next month or so.

A free product can be a video explaining something. I have an optin offer for a free video called “Blogging Fever” on the sidebar to this blog. It’s a 10 minute video Donna and I shot explaining what blogging is all about. That’s a “product!” It’s a free one, but it’s still a product.

Hope I got your wheels turning, Sherman. Good luck with it.

        Hey David,

I think that’s where most people get scared. The word product is interpreted as this huge system that usually takes a team of people to create. This is true on rare occasions but yes it could mean just doing 7 videos or maybe an ebook.

There are plans for writing an ebook that I like to sell. I know it’s going to take me a while to finish it because of the limited of time I have and I want to include all this vslue into it. I might have to take a vacation to really focus on it.

          Here’s another suggestion, Sherman.

Let’s say your ebook has 8 main chapters.

Plot them out on an outline page.

Do chapter 1. Complete it, put in images or video etc etc.

Now, go to WarriorPlus and sell it as a WSO. $7

While that’s selling, rip of chapter 2, repeat above and now there’s 2 WSO’s out there with your name on it as you work on chapter 3. etc etc.

          Rinse, repeat.

By the time your ebook is done (could be 8 months or 8 weeks or 8 days depending on how fast you are, how much time you have)… by the time it’s done, you’re already making $7 x 7 or $49 each time you sell the first 7 wso’s. When it’s all done, package the 8 chapters and create a “product” on some other platform like Zaxaa, JVzoo or whatever, and you’re now selling 7 wso’s plus an 8 chapter training, ebook whatever you call it.

Yes, there’s a bit of a learning curve, but once you’ve got this down… you’re good. repeat, repeat.

Try it in reverse. A good friend of mine created a $997 video training course. He’s now in the process of taking it apart and selling each little bit into $10 wso’s.

Wow, it gets crazy doesn’t it? this business just blows me away. I do love it!

  2. Donna Merrill April 30, 2015 at 4:54 pm #

    Hi David,

I know so many bloggers that have never taken that “leap of faith” to create a product. Indeed, it is something way out of a comfort zone, but we did it and now we are creating one a month.

Yes, it is work, but once you have done your first one, the rest is so easy. It is just like anything else we do with business.

I know when we started, we did it with a mentor and thank goodness for that! Kept us on our toes. Since then, we have been expanding into different venues.

I just love that you are sharing Lauch Control because we do know like and trust the people behind it and know that they go the extra mile.

This is one great opportunity that needs to be shared.

We certainly learned a lot knockin’ around the neighborhood.

But none of that matters if there’s no sincerity and quality behind it all.

We both know product creators who just operate like hacks, and they do make money.

But we also know plenty of folks who put their heart and soul into what they do, and it really shows in their products. They’re not so interested in making money, but in building a business. A long-term, consumer focused business.

I know that’s the sort of quality you bring to everything you do, and that’s the real reason our business has taken off the way it has.

It’s really about the people behind the product, far more than the product.

Anyone can learn to kick stuff out, but you have to be the real deal to kick stuff out that people can’t wait to get their hands on.

I was really happy to give John T. a shout out here, because he’s one of the quality guys who works very hard to move people forward.

I think the first advice I received when setting up my first blog was to write about the thing you’re most passionate about.

That’s still probably the best advice any blogger can get.

If you “have nothing to offer,” BG, I’d suggest you start by doing a lot of research on the topic of your choice. Learn so you have something to share, teach, talk about, write about. Engage others in your niche and have conversations… real conversations… on blog comments, FB posts and groups, forums and anywhere else you can find like minded people.

The more you become immersed in your topic, the more easily content will flow whether it is in the form of text, video, podcast, graphics or anything else you can think of.

Is it a lot of work? Of course. That’s what I mean by “immerse” yourself in your topic. That’s exactly why it’s so, so important to be passionate about it. If you’re not, the work will be hard and dreary. If you are, you’ll love every single moment and wish you didn’t have to sleep!

I think Product Creation is like a big bad wolf standing at a bend in the road for most bloggers and many business owners…

We know we have to get to that place on the road, learn the process and then do it!

And yet it is often never thought about at the beginning of one’s journey, and it is easy to get caught up in a pattern of routine for a long time, when creating a product never crosses your mind. When it does… the Wolf Looms!!

Lead magnets are a great place to start, (and I’m on the case now) and I so agree about using a current trend as your basis. It is also a fabulous way to build a list, because people see your value up front in your free product because it is useful to them.

I really like your emphasis on giving a product ‘your all’ even though it is free, and creating for your market, that is the only way to go for me.

My business thoughts are changing now, and I fully appreciate your information and advice above. You have clearly outlined the difference between the Bloggers and the Big Buck Bloggers.

Good idea for the chapters of a book!

Thank you David ‘Genius’ Merrill 😀

I hear many people say that creating products is not necessary. I even hear how having a blog or website is not necessary to “make money online.”

All that is true, but let’s get real.

Very, very few people will build a lasting business online (despite earning a few commissions here and there) without having a website, and a blog is the most important website to have IMHO.

As for creating products… you can build a good online business without creating your own products and services… but it will be SO much harder than if you start doing it. And your chances of success (ie., big bucks, consistently) without creating products/services is greatly… greatly reduced.

Thanks for your valuable observations here, Jacs, and good luck with your new challenges in creating your own lead magnet and subsequent digital products! You’re certainly on the right path.

There certainly are many good product creation courses and trainings available, Jenni. The most important challenge is to get the training and implement it as you go along. Not after the training, but step by step as you go through the training.

Donna and I will be doing our own product creation course in the not too distant future, as a matter of fact. It will be pretty exciting. We’ve been coaching people one on one to do this, for quite a while now. This will be our first e-class training for a group of folks.

    Hi David

I know you’re right…. However that approach hasn’t gone well for me. My fault, of course, but the time aspect has just defeated me.

I created a product a while ago and it took me ages, and cost me money, but sadly the launch was a complete flop. I made a few sales, but not enough to cover my costs – let alone my time.

I did it in conjunction with a coach but due to my Mum’s health problems I was slow in completing it and by the time it launched the VAT EU changes had implemented and the platform I launched it on (WSO) was non-VAT compliant so I held off promoting it for fear of having to account for VAT – which would be terrible admin.

I actually paid for John Thornhill to promote my product to his list but at the moment it’s not on a VAT-compliant platform, so I can’t!

I tried to move the product somewhere else that WOULD be VAT-compliant but got in a terrible muddle with the techincal side of it. Time has just defeated me since my Mum died and I’m still trying to help my Dad with his business and catch up on my own offline work that pays my day-to-day bills. That, and family, have to come first.

I created a free ebook too that I use for list-building – although at the moment I’m so “lost for direction” (and my blog is broken) that’s on hold too.

Not deterred I have another product “in the making” for a complete change of direction, because this one sure isn’t working!

Yes, it IS a TOTAL shambles – and I guess once the dust of my life settles I will have to have a word with you or Donna (I am a VIP club member, although you woldn’t know it).

In a nutshell, I actually LIKE creating ebooks etc, but I totally suck at the technical and promotional side of launching them.

Ah well – an alarm is going to remind me an off-line business client will be here in a few minutes. Thank goodness for book-keeping clients 🙂

    2nd visit
Commissions from products they’d create to build a list. Earning commissions as affiliate products they promote. Earning money from the front end and the back end, Digital products revenue from affiliate sales as well as growing your buyers list which is more valuable. The back -end is the products sold, usually affiliate products.
So the key is to create a digital product and sell it to your list thru promotions.

As a blogger and product creator, I can confirm that the biggest share of my income has come through my own products.

Yes, the affiliate option is huge. If you succeed to recruit affiliates, the sales will be crushing. That’s why I encourage fellow bloggers not to try to promote alone. They should add affiliate option as that will hugely boost their sales.
