I've been visiting Donna's blog for longer time and she is the one who brought me over the facebook group with both belong too. Then, I landed up on your blog never even realizing of the same last name. This was a superb post and I really enjoyed it. I do believe 100% that using an idea that already exists (and good) is better than trying to invent one. And, you are right, nothing is new. Everything has already been done somehow! Good gracious! You guys are married :) ? But of course, now I see “Merrill” and it didn’t even rang a bell!

The key is really looking at what we can do to take something and make it better or really unique. I have a great example. When I was in hotel sales while on a sales trip I came across a little pamplet at the hotel where I was staying that featured key phrases (Japanese to English and English to Japanese)for visitors. I took that back to my hotel and we morphed the idea into something MUCH bigger. My hotel was (is) known as 'the most hawaiian' hotel - so we created a whole series of attractive little pamplets featuring the Hawaiian language. For example English-Japanese-Hawaiian, and English-Spanish-Hawaiian. That little innovation ended up getting huge PR and won us a few awards.
